LEA Plan

BACKGROUND:

The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 mandates school districts to develop a Local Educational Agency (LEA) Plan in order to receive federal funding. The plan is required to summarize the actions the schools and district will take to ensure that the program requirements of NCLB are met. It is intended to be a plan to reflect the District's use of categorical funding to help all students meet grade level standards. The LEA plan addresses the following State Board of Education performance goals adopted in May 2002:

Performance Goal 1: Attain upward mobility in student achievement for all students, including an increase in the met/exceeding levels for all English learner students as measured on local and state assessments in English Language Arts, by 2016-2017.

Performance Goal 2: Attain upward mobility in student achievement for all students, including an increase in the met/exceeding levels for all English learner students as measured on local and state assessments in mathematics, by 2016-2017.

Performance Goal 3: All limited English-proficient students will become proficient in English and reach high academic standards, attaining met/exceeded levels in reading/language arts and mathematics.

Performance Goal 4: All students will be taught by credentialed teachers.

Performance Goal 5:  All students will be educated in a safe environment. This would be defined as a reduction in both the suspension and expulsion rates along with a continued focus in the area of Developmental Asset indicators.
