Information about Measure B
Our school district motto is “Our Community, Our Students, Our Future,” which is a testimony to our community’s support for local schools and children’s education. Since 1990, the Los Gatos and Monte Sereno communities have supported LGUSD students through voter-approved local funding, which generates about $2.8 million per year to support high student achievement, retaining high-quality teachers, and our outstanding academic programs.
Mail Ballot Election on Tuesday, May 7, 2013
To protect our excellent academic programs the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to place Measure B, a renewal of our existing parcel tax, on the May 7, 2013 all-mail ballot. All registered voters in LGUSD will receive a ballot in the mail—there will be no polling places in this election. Without increasing taxes, Measure B will renew essential funding for our neighborhood schools.
Measure B will support the following programs:
Maintain top-quality core academic programs in reading, writing, math and science
Retain highly-qualified teachers
Maintain up-to-date science resources and programs
Provide updated classroom technology, books and instructional materials
Support art and music programs
All funds stay in our schools and cannot be taken by the State
Independent oversight and annual reports ensure funds are spent as promised
No funds can be used for administrators’ salaries
Measure B would expire in 8 years and cannot be renewed without voter approval
Senior citizen homeowners would continue to be able to receive an exemption
